eCash (XEC)

16/04/2026

eCash (XEC) is a Proof of Work cryptocurrency that forked from Bitcoin Cash (BCH) in July 2021, originally known as Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA). It was rebranded to eCash and redenominated — 1 BCH ABC became 1,000,000 XEC.

Key facts

  • Algorithm: SHA-256
  • Mining hardware: ASIC (same as Bitcoin)
  • Block time: ~10 minutes
  • Finality layer: Avalanche (post-consensus protocol for fast finality, separate from mining)
  • Fork origin: Bitcoin Cash → Bitcoin Cash ABC → eCash

Avalanche layer

eCash uses a secondary Avalanche consensus layer (not to be confused with the Avalanche blockchain) to achieve fast transaction finality (~1 second) on top of the standard PoW chain. Mining still uses SHA-256 and produces blocks normally; Avalanche adds a fast-finality overlay.

Mine eCash on Kryptex Pool

eCash can be mined by SHA-256 ASICs alongside Bitcoin via merged mining.
